Chase Roebuck Open Report 2007

Chase Swimming club held their annual Roebuck open meet held at Wolverhampton Central Baths 27 & 28 October. The meet was well subscribed with a large number of clubs from the Midlands and as far a field as Exeter attending.

Chase swimmers under the supervision of head coach Paul Grainger and junior coach Debbie Handley managed to total 38 Medals.

In the 14yr age group Mitchell Adshead took GOLD in 200 & 100 Breaststroke , 100 Backstroke, 200 & 400 Individual Medley. Adshead was also placed in Silver position in 400 & 200 Freestyle. Adshead achieved 3 National Qualifying times in lieu of the 2008 Age Group National Championships in 200 Breast , 200 Individual Medley & most impressively in the 400 Individual Medley in a time of 4.46.31, this time was 8 ½ seconds under the NQT ,winning his race by over 18 seconds in his age group.


In the 11yr age group Peter Sullivan gained Gold 100 free and a impressive 7 SILVER in the following events - 400 & 200 Free, 200 & 100 Breast, 200 & 100 Back & 200 IM.

14yr Megan Coughlan achieved GOLD 200 Fly & 200 Back, SILVER 200 & 100 Free.

Ben Wood 13 yr age group achieved GOLD 200 Fly & 200 Back, SILVER 200 & 100 Freestyle

12yr Jonathan Brachmanski gained SILVER in the 200 & 100 Breast.

Keira Wilkinson 13yr gained GOLD 200 Breast, SILVER 200 IM, and BRONZE 200 Back.

Other GOLD medallists over the weekend were:- Liam Stabler 400 Free & Joseph Kinsell 200 Fly .
SILVER medallists were :- Mitchell Bates 400 Free, Jamie Barter 100 Back, Bethany Baker 200 Back, George Kimberley 400 IM, Alice Preece 50 Free, and BRONZE medallists were:- Matthew Holroyd 200 Back and Christie Ghent 100 Fly.

Just out of the Medal rankings with 4th placings were Abbie Lloyd, Zoe Foster, Hannah Dabbs and Grace Murphy.

All other swimmers who attended the meet swam really well with a good start to the season, with a great number of Personal Best times performed.

Both senior and junior coaches were pleased with the performance of all Chase swimmers.

Two Chase swimmers represented Staffordshire recently at the National Inter Counties Championships held in Shefield:- Emma Wilkins & Mitchell Adshead who received his County Colours from the President of Staffordshire ASA Eileen Salt.
Wilkins along with fellow swimmers Ben Wood also represented Staffordshire and Greater Manchester at the ESSA Championships held in Manchester.
