Gala Report 16th February 2008

Solihull Junior Gala at Stetchford 25m pool

Victory for Chase Junior Squad

A clear 25 point victory over Leicester Penguins, Stratford Sharks, Warley Wasps, Kingsbury and Solihull swimming clubs at Stetchford, was a great warm-up event for what we hope will be a good Junior League campaign.
There were some fantastic individual performances from, Mitch Bates, Christie Ghent, Peter Sullivan, Abbie Lloyd, Joe Kinsell, Kayleigh Ghent, Bria Wort, Zoe Foster, and Jake Jones, who all won their individual races.
But that's not all, we also won 14 of the 19 relay races across all age groups, and out of the remaining 5 relay races we came 2nd three times.
A special mention has to made for the new 9 year olds that joined the squad this year, they all performed brilliantly under the pressure of swimming at a different venue. The spirit shown on poolside between all of the team meant they went from strength to strength as their confidence grew. Team Coach Debbie Handley said 'The atmosphere was great, and defiantly made a difference to the team's performance. The reaction from the supporters helped a lot too' that sentiment was echoed by team managers Karen Ghent and Barry Sullivan.
The team that represented the club were as follows:
9 year olds - Taela Yeomans-Brown, Vicky Egan, Kayleigh Ghent, Chloe Jones, Megan Harris, Callum Arris, Billy Mills, George Foster, Jake Jones, & Robbie Smith
10 year olds - Bria Wort, Hannah Gladwin, Harriet Roberts, Alex Beaman, Joe Felton, & Jay Duffin
11 year olds - April Arnold, Abbie Lloyd, Bessie Baker, Zoe Foster, Jack Toy-Mills, Joe Kinsell, Rhys Seymor, Jack Neale& Adam Lamb
12 year olds - Christie Ghent, Chloe Smith, Peter Sullivan & Mitch Bates
