Chase
Swims to Victory
Chase Swimming Club proved yet again on Sunday 22nd June that its swimmers are some of the best in the area. Last weekend Chase Swimming Club's most experienced swimmers competed at the Midland Championships with outstanding success. This weekend it was the turn of Chase's youngest and least experienced swimmers. Ten Chase Swimmers travelled to Wolverhampton for the Ickle People Open Meet. The Ickle People Open Meet is a very popular competition for younger swimmers. Over 200 swimmers from all over the area attended this meet. Many of Chase's swimmers were just 9 years old, and competing for the very first time in an Open competition with electronic timers and a huge audience. The 10 young swimmers who represented Chase were Bria Wort (4 Personal Best times), Chloe Jones (4 Personal Best times), George Foster (5 Personal Best times), Jake Jones (3 Personal Best times), Joe Felton (4 Personal Best times), Kayleigh Ghent (6 Personal Best times), Reiss Seymour (2 Personal Best times), Sam Hodgson (3 Personal Best times), Victoria Egan (2 Personal Best times) and Zoe Foster (6 Personal Best times). All of the swimmers performed brilliantly, but special mention needs to be made about: 10 year old Joe Felton who gained 2 gold medals in the 50m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle, 1 bronze medal in the 50m Butterfly and 4th in the 200m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley. 11 year old Zoe Foster, who gained 1 gold medal in the 100m Freestyle, and 4 bronze medals in 50m Butterfly, 50m Breast Stroke, 200m Freestyle and 100m Breast Stroke. 10 year old Bria Wort who gained 1 gold medal in 100m Backstroke and 4th in the 200m Freestyle. 9
year old Jake Jones who came 4th in the 50m Backstroke. 9 year olds Chloe Jones, George Foster and Kayleigh Ghent who competed brilliantly in their very first Open Event, gaining a Personal Best time in every event they swam! Yet another successful weekend for Junior Coach, Debbie Handley, who was very impressed with all of the swimmers' performances. |
