Emma Wilkins has been selected to compete at the Tri-Nations meet in Quebec.

Two swimmers from the West Midlands have been selected to compete at the Tri-Nations meet in Quebec.

Chris Fox (Wolverhampton / Off Shore) and Emma Wilkins (Chase / Plymouth Leander) will join a squad of forty up and coming British swimmers who will take on teams from France and Canada from 1st - 3rd August.

The Tri-Nations event will showcase many of the junior talents from the three participating nations who will be targeting the London 2012 Olympics in four years time.

Having the opportunity to swim against world athletes at a junior level as the country prepares for the Olympics will be of great value to the relatively inexperienced members team who are joined by more experienced individuals.

Emma is also competing at the World Youth Championships in Monterrey, Mexico, from 8th - 13th July, her first overseas international representing Great Britain in the following events:-

50m freestyle
100m freestyle

Chase swimmer Mitchell Adshead who has swam with Chase for almost three years has now moved on.

During his time with Chase he always trained hard , listened to Paul's direction and aimed high, his achievements reflect this.

He will be training with Plymouth Leander Swimming Club on there Elite Swimmers Programme. This club is based in Plymouth , Devon.
He will be coached by Jon Rudd. As it is so far away he will be attending Plymouth College Boarding School full time .
The level of his training has been increased dramatically and he is doing well and has settled into both the swimming and his new life at school as a boarder with ease , although there are lots of differences for him.

He is still a member of Chase swimming club and you will see him from time to time, mainly school holidays, he will also be attending the Chase Open Meet in October. He looks forward to seeing you all then.

However most of the other meets that he will be attending will be in the south region of the county.London,Somerset,Swansea etc. He may well bump into you in Sheffield thou occasionally.

Mitchell would like to thank swimmers, parents and coaches for cards and gifts and kind wishes he received on his last swim session .

All at Chase Swimming Club would like to thank Mitchell for his valuable contribution to the club and would like to wish him all the best for his promising future in swimming.

To everyone at Chase Swimming Club

Can I say how touched I was to receive the cards and gifts from swimmers and parents at my last session on Monday 23rd July. I think I have been teaching, coaching, timekeeping, judging and starting for seven years at Chase. The drink and chocolates will soon be consumed but the great memories will last a great deal longer. I’m pleased if some swimmers feel that I have helped them but to be honest I am the lucky one. The number of times I have come over to teach, perhaps not in the best of moods, and I have been cheered up by some lovely smiling face. Teaching can be the most rewarding of “jobs” and so many of the young swimmers at Chase offer the best reward a person can get.

Thanks to you all and good luck. I’ll keep checking results for the names that I know.

Trevor

Chase Swimmer selected for the UK School Games.

Congratulations to Emma Wilkins who has been selected to take part in the UK School Games to be held at Coventry on 23rd to 27th August 2007.

The UK School Games is a multi-sport event for the most talented teenagers across the United Kingdom. The huge success of the inaugural UK School Games in Glasgow in 2006 has resulted in the event receiving funding to extend its competition to 2011.

The 2007 Games has expanded to feature 1300 athletes competing in eight sports - athletics, badminton, fencing, gymnastics, judo, swimming, table tennis and volleyball including disability events in athletics and swimming. In each sport both male and female competitors will participate in a one age group category as agreed and selected by the sports. Each of the eight sports will be combined into a 4-day programme in an environment designed to replicate the feel of a large multi-sport event such as an Olympic and Paralympic Games with, in addition to the competition itself, the experience of an opening and closing ceremony and Athlete Village.

Swimming
The full Olympic programme of 32 events with 12 Paralympic events will form the schedule for the swimming. 8 regional teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will be selected from the 16 and under age group to compete in a 1 day competition.
